Redpanda: AEO and AI Search Visibility
Buyers now ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews which streaming platform to use. I lead Redpanda's AEO work: making the site easy for AI systems to read and cite, and tracking how often Redpanda shows up in their answers.
Buyers ask AI before they ever visit
If an AI answer names three vendors and you aren't one of them, you never get the click. Classic SEO reports couldn't tell us where we stood.
We needed two things: a site AI crawlers can read cleanly, and a way to measure our share of AI answers against competitors, week over week.
Make the site machine-readable, then measure it
I shipped the technical groundwork, then set up weekly tracking and reporting.

- llms.txt and llms-full.txt, plus an /ai-info page that gives AI systems a clean summary of the company and products.
- Per-page markdown versions and structured data, so pages are easy to parse and cite.
- Weekly tracking of 697 prompts across the major AI platforms, against 28 competitors.
- A weekly report for the CMO that ties AI visibility to site traffic and sign-ups.
Non-branded AI mentions up 33% in five months

In the first five months of tracking, Redpanda's share of non-branded AI answers rose from 20% to 26% across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI answers.
The bigger finding was what AI visitors do once they arrive. They converted to a Cloud sign-up at 4.8%, versus 0.3% to a form. That made the case for product-led paths, like sign-up and "Analyze with AI," for AI-referred traffic instead of gated content.
